Dollar loses jobs figures gains

The Australian dollar is lower against its US counterpart, losing the gains it made following the release of local jobs figures.

At 0635 AEST on Friday, the local unit was trading at 76.88 US cents, down from 77.09 cents on Thursday.

A slight fall in the unemployment rate from 5.8 to 5.7 per cent, on Thursday pushed the Australian dollar back above 77 US cents.

* 76.88 US cents, from 77.09 cents on Thursday

* 76.80 Japanese yen, from 77.00 yen
